1994 Peace & Freedom Election Results

Preliminary 1994 California Peace and Freedom Party Results:
(Figures are from the Secretary of State's Election Results
Gopher as of approximately 2 pm, Wednesday, November 16th, with
most but not all of the absentee ballots counted)

- Six Peace and Freedom candidates received more than 100,000
votes, and two received over 200,000 votes.

- Peace and Freedom candidates came in third in two of the three
contests in which all six ballot-qualified parties participated.
Thus Peace and Freedom is California's real "third party"; the
other non-Republicrat parties are "fourth parties".

- Four of seven candidates for state constitutional office won
more than two percent of the vote, ensuring Peace and Freedom
Party ballot status for another four years.

- Peace and Freedom candidates contested all eight statewide
partisan offices, and 36 of 157 partisan offices voted on by
less than the whole state.

- Nine Peace and Freedom candidates contested partisan races in
which the winner received less than fifty percent of the votes;
together with other non-Republicrat parties, Peace and Freedom
affected the outcome of these races. (Such candidates' names
are asterisked below.)

- Peace and Freedom Party State Chair Marsha Feinland was
elected to the non-partisan Berkeley Rent Board, as part of a
pro-tenant slate that Peace and Freedom helped to organize.
Winning at least four of five seats open, the pro-tenant slate
wrested control of the Rent Board from a previous pro-landlord
majority.
