<< Gerrymandering away democracy | Main | ABA Feud over Copyright Giveaway >> May 23, 2002TX to Elect Black Dem to Senate? One of the most interesting races for the Senate is in Dubya's backyard, where black Dem Ron Kirk is facing off against GOPer Jon Cornyn. And polls shows dead heat in race that could be key in control of Senate. One key to the race is that Kirk's run for Senate is paired with latino Tony Sanchez's run for Governor, a combo that is encouraging a strong black-latino mobilization for the fall. 58 percent of Hispanics and 84 percent of blacks are supporting Mr. Kirk. Control of the Senate is the key fight this fall and it would be rather sweet to see Bush see his nemisis Daschle kept as majority leader by a vote of his home state.Posted by Nathan at May 23, 2002 05:19 AM Related posts:
