Ann Coulter Insane Tilt Alert
I've generally stayed away from the Ann Coulter bashing on the theory she just thrives on it, but her latest one is so outrageous that, if she is able to stay on television anywhere, it by itself disproves her thesis of liberal media bias. Liz Smith had this item:
Ann gave an interview to George Gurley in the New York Observer this week. She actually says, "My only regret with Timothy McVeigh (the Oklahoma City bomber) is he did not go to the New York Times building."A sick, sick woman.
One other tidbit from the original Observer article from where the quote came. It turns out Coulter's Dad was the lawyer for Phelps Dodge when they busted the copper mine union in Arizona. This was the first large-scale use of "permanent replacement" workers during a strike, previously a tactic seen as digusting even among corporate types. Far more than PATCO, this strike and union-busting assault led the way to the wholesale destruction of unions in the 1980s. So Ann comes by her viciousness honestly.
BTW I highly recommend the book Copper Crucible: How the Arizona Miners' Strike of 1983 Recast Labor-Management Relations in America by Jonathan D. Rosenblum as an indepth analysis of the Arizona strike and the fate of unionism in its aftermath.
