<< 350,000 March in London Against War | Main | S&P Companies in Pension Deficits >> September 29, 2002Iowa- Center of Political Universe?Prospects for Dem success in the fall elections are looking up and the reason is Iowa. Why Iowa? Because in both the race for governor and Senator, the Democrat incumbents have broadened their leads to about 20 points in each case. And because of a "good government" redistricting commission, four out of five Iowa House districts are competitive -- more competitive seats than in California, Texas and Illinois combined. And three of those competitive seats are held by GOP incumbents. If the Democrat turn in Iowa holds up, Iowa could deliver a significant seat to hold the Senate and three of the six seats needed for Dems to retake control of the House.
