<< Terror: 336,000 Deaths in Indonesia | Main | Krugman on Instapundit's Sweden Silliness >> October 21, 2002Employers/Bush Lied About Port Shutdown CostsRemember those estimates that the port shutdown was costing the US economy $1 to $2 billion per day? Turns out it came from an employer-funded study. Now,a REPUBLICAN-led consulting group has analyzed the early figures as grossly inflating the real costs of the shutdown. The ridiculousness of the inflated figures, which the media mindlessly repeated, is that, in the words of the new report's author, "a figure of $1 billion to $2 billion per day [is] closer to the economic impact of sinking the ships than delaying them."
