<< Thou Shalt Not Insult Supreme Leader Big Brother | Main | What is Murder- Mother's Addictions? >> January 28, 2003World Bank Joins Global Justice MovementOkay, maybe the title's a little strong, but check out this oped by James Wolfensohn, President of the World Bank, titled "A Better World is Possible", an obviously deliberate echo of the global justice movement's slogan, Another World Is Possible. And check out these quotes: The events of September 11, 2001, helped drive home the message to people everywhere that there are not two worlds - rich and poor. There is only one. We are linked by finance, trade, migration, communications, environment, communicable diseases, crime, drugs, and certainly by terror.War is not peace, and tax cuts for the wealthy are not equality. It's nice to hear someone saying the obvious. Of course we need to take real security measures, but to ignore the resentment that poverty and inequality is breeding around the world would practically be an act of suicide by America.
