<< Except for the Death part, It ain't so bad... | Main | Right Pollster's Sees Tough Bush Reelection >> February 11, 2003Corn on ANSWER's Banning of Rabbi Lerner[NOTE: As I've said in the past and Michael Lerner is saying, please go to Saturday's demos. March in solidarity with the millions of people who will march all over the world that day to oppose the US's unilateral rush to war. But the censorship of dissent within the movement by ANSWER in San Franciso shows why they should not be allowed anywhere in leadership of the movement after this weekend. I'm extremely happy that ANSWER had no role in planning New York's rallies this weekend. The following is from David Corn of the Nation. ] The Banning of Rabbi Lerner Lerner is the progressive Jew. He edits Tikkun, a magazine mostly written by lefty Jews. (Its name is Hebrew for "to mend, repair and transform the world.") He can be counted on to sign on to most liberal causes. He is a signatory to the Not In Our Name antiwar pledge. His Tikkun Community is a member of the United for Peace & Justice coalition that opposes a U.S. war against Iraq. (Other members include the American Friends Service Committee, Global Exchange, Greenpeace, TransAfrica, Working Assets.) He has been a leading Jewish voice against the hawks of Israel and a supporter of Palestinian rights, while calling himself a Zionist. Posted by Nathan at February 11, 2003 07:07 AM Related posts:
