<< Anti-Saddam Exiles Returning to fight US | Main | Pictures Hackers Don't Want You to See >> March 27, 2003More Spoils of WarCongress is getting ready to mandate US-based cell phone technology in Iraq, aceing out European cell phone companies. The idiocy of the mandate is that surrounding countries use the European-based GSM technology not the US-based CDMA standard: If CDMA were the dominant technology in Iraq today, customers traveling to a nearby country that has only a GSM network wouldn't be able to use a CDMA phone there.More here. Lest anyone really think this war is about anything other than liberating corporate profits. Posted by Nathan at March 27, 2003 05:53 PM Related posts:

Actually, I never believed that for a moment. Posted by: doesn't matter at March 27, 2003 08:26 PM Fodder for conspiracy theorists (don't know how you'll use this, but the coincidences are nice): The sponsor of the bill is Rep. Issa of California, a Republican. He's one of the few Arab-American members of Congress (can't think of another of the top of my head), and he was put in the humiliating position of having to defend the policies of his party's administration after he was detained and strip-searched when trying to board and airplane post-9/11. His bill is No. 1441--just like the Security Council resolution that the administration claims gives it the authority to attack Iraq without further Security Council action. Can this all be just coincidence????? Oliver Stone, where are you? Posted by: J. J. at March 28, 2003 04:35 PM Just as an aside, another Arab-American member of Congress, the only other one I know, is Nick Rahal (sp?), a Democrat from West Virginia Posted by: Brian Schefke at March 28, 2003 05:46 PM Don't forget about security.
