Fodder for conspiracy theorists (don't know how you'll use this, but the coincidences are nice): The sponsor of the bill is Rep. Issa of California, a Republican. He's one of the few Arab-American members of Congress (can't think of another of the top of my head), and he was put in the humiliating position of having to defend the policies of his party's administration after he was detained and strip-searched when trying to board and airplane post-9/11. His bill is No. 1441--just like the Security Council resolution that the administration claims gives it the authority to attack Iraq without further Security Council action. Can this all be just coincidence????? Oliver Stone, where are you?

Just as an aside, another Arab-American member of Congress, the only other one I know, is Nick Rahal (sp?), a Democrat from West Virginia
