<< Fox News Hit Piece on NYC City Council | Main | Manufacturing Collapse >> April 15, 2003Raise Taxes on WealthyWell, one more item on New York's budget-- a poll showing that state voters overwhelmingly support new taxes on the wealthy and corporations to cut the state and local deficits. A new poll by the Garin Hart Yang group found that of the 513 people surveyed, 85 percent favor a proposal that puts in place a new state corporate alternative minimum tax "to make sure that corporations with more than a million dollars in profits cannot avoid paying state taxes." The survey, completed on April 4, also found that 73 percent of those contacted favor a plan to raise the state personal income tax for people making more than $100,000. So even if Bush is promoting budgets of mass destruction, Pataki in Albany should take the clue and follow the overwhelming sentiment of the public to save services for those in need by taxing those still making out well.
