<< TX Faceoff- Farce to Coverup | Main | So Much For Local Control >> May 29, 2003More Screwing New YorkThe Republicans should expect riots when they hold their convention in New York City next year, given the war they've declared on the city in repeatedly seeking to cut funding for the City. Here is the latest proposal to screw the city on transportation funding: New York could lose $300 million a year in federal transportation money, an amount that could threaten subway maintenance and expansion projects like the proposed Second Avenue Station, according to a report by researchers at New York University.Seriously, riots next year. The ridiculousness of the proposal is it is based on the idea that some states are paying more in federal gas tax than they receive in funding. Well, New York state pays about $20 billion more in income and other taxes to the federal government than it gets back in spending. How about Texas keeps its damn gas tax money and New York gets to keep its $20 billion? Posted by Nathan at May 29, 2003 01:05 AM Related posts:
