<< Cool | Main | Tennessee: Bush Sinking Fast >> February 01, 2004Kerry Gets Farmworkers EndorsementThe United Farm Workers (UFW) union has come out strongly for Kerry: More than three and a half decades after Cesar Chavez embraced Robert F. Kennedy’s 1968 presidential campaign, the United Farm Workers proudly supports Senator John Kerry for President because he shares our vision of helping Latinos and all people achieve the decent life America promises those who work hard for a living...While Kerry has played it safe as a Senator in the 1990s, it is worth emphasizing that his activism in the 1970s is far deeper than a lot of folks dismissing him as a typical "DC politician" warrant. I suspect this fact is behind a lot of the visceral hatred I have seen for Kerry on Kos and other online sites. Unlike, say, Senator Edwards who has a more conservative voting record, a lot of folks see Senator Kerry as a traitor for moderating. I only hope this anti-Kerry feeling blows over soon; in 2000 we'd have been cheering if he'd made a run. Posted by: Kevin Block-Schwenk at February 1, 2004 07:19 PM Post a comment
