A Protestant Nation No More
For all the talk of the US being a Christian nation, the radical demographic truth is it assuredly will no longer be a Protestant nation soon.
Surveys show sometime in the next few years, Protestants will no longer be in the majority of the population. If you don't count the Mormons as Protestants, then the post-Luther denominations are already in the minority.
Catholics make up another 25% of the population, but the radical shift in the last thirty years has been the population professing no religion, up to 14% by 2002. Other groups such as Muslims, Orthodox Christians, Buddhists and Hindus, rose quickly this past decade from 3% of the population in 1993 to 7% in 2002.
So "In God We Trust", but Which One?
