Of Course the US Uses Torture

...or we subcontract it to our intelligence services: See this story about the conviction for torture by a US-trained head of El Salvador's Treasury Policy and vice-minister of Defense, who also happened to be on the payroll of the CIA:

Mr. Carranza, who moved to Memphis in 1985 and is now an American citizen, testified that he was a paid informant for the Central Intelligence Agency for two decades, including the years that were the focus of the trial. His tie to the agency was corroborated at the trial by the American ambassador to El Salvador at the time, Robert White.
Which all goes to why the criminalizing exposure of CIA agents commiting violations of the law around the world is a bad thing. Otherwise, it takes decades for the truth to come out-- and in the meantime the US gets to pretend that it's not US personnel and their hired flunkies commiting atrocities all over the world.
