<< Left Overworries Media Monopoly | Main | One last response on McKinney >> August 23, 2002Ann Coulter Insane Tilt AlertI've generally stayed away from the Ann Coulter bashing on the theory she just thrives on it, but her latest one is so outrageous that, if she is able to stay on television anywhere, it by itself disproves her thesis of liberal media bias. Liz Smith had this item: Ann gave an interview to George Gurley in the New York Observer this week. She actually says, "My only regret with Timothy McVeigh (the Oklahoma City bomber) is he did not go to the New York Times building."A sick, sick woman. One other tidbit from the original Observer article from where the quote came. It turns out Coulter's Dad was the lawyer for Phelps Dodge when they busted the copper mine union in Arizona. This was the first large-scale use of "permanent replacement" workers during a strike, previously a tactic seen as digusting even among corporate types. Far more than PATCO, this strike and union-busting assault led the way to the wholesale destruction of unions in the 1980s. So Ann comes by her viciousness honestly. BTW I highly recommend the book Copper Crucible: How the Arizona Miners' Strike of 1983 Recast Labor-Management Relations in America by Jonathan D. Rosenblum as an indepth analysis of the Arizona strike and the fate of unionism in its aftermath. Posted by Nathan at August 23, 2002 11:45 AM Related posts:
Trackback PingsTrackBack URL for this entry: CommentsGood policy and rationale on Coulter - I'm sure she does thrive on the attacks. And although it is obvious to say it, imagine the confected rage that would accompany anyone deemed "left" who uttered anything remotely like her McVeigh comment. The fact that she is not seriously brought to task in the mainstream press must be because of its liberal bias. Posted by: tim dunlop at August 23, 2002 07:12 PM i have been invited to joing the blog "horowitz watch," and i am not very enthusiastic about it (in fact, i haven't posted a blog yet there) because, like you, nathan, i think that the more energy you give these energy vampires, the more they thrive. ann would shrivel up and die if we all just ignored her. so that's what i suggest we do. Posted by: skippy at August 23, 2002 08:26 PM Don't you guys know that Ann Coulter is just a comedian like George Carlin? You are not supposed to take her seriously because it is all tongue in cheek...the Wall Street Journal said so so it must be true.: http://www.opinionjournal.com/extra/?id=110002204 Ann is just being outrageous for the sake of a good belly laugh when she makes humorous and insightful comments such as "My only regret with Timothy McVeigh (the Oklahoma City bomber) is he did not go to the New York Times building." HA HA HA...get it? Doesn't anyone here have a sense of humor? It's at least just as funny as some "Liberal" politico-humorist saying that "My only regret is that Ann Coulter wasn't on the 110th floor of the WTC building when the planes crashed into it." HA HA HA...it's just a JOKE! I swear, sometimes I think that you guys really have no sense of humor. The Conservative party is the compassionate, moral, ethical, and ideological superior to the Left. Just ask Ann or anyone of her lapdogs over at Horowits FrontPage site. Posted by: Spike at September 2, 2002 03:17 PM Ann Coulter is an intelligent woman. You just prove her theories by attacking her integrity. If that silly quote up there is the best skeleton in her closet, then you are really wasting your time. Posted by: Dustin at February 22, 2003 11:16 PM That woman is a sick piece of poor white trash. What real author slaps a pic of their anorexic, nasty face self on a "book" and calls it literature? She is disgusting, and yet so appropriate for Bush - stupid, ignorant and arrogant. They should hook up sometime. Posted by: Ariel at July 20, 2003 05:50 PM Post a comment
