<< Unions Endorse Pataki- So what? | Main | Why Blogs Matter >> October 21, 2002Horror "Comfort Food"Remember post-911 cultural commentators predicting a desire for quaint cultural "comfort food." Sure, we definitely have a few new Americana shows like Everwood and American Dreams on television, but there's a good argument by conservatives that the networks had been underserving that market for years. 911 may have just pushed a readjustment, although it didn't stop grisly crime dramas from dominating television. What kind of comfort food is a season where three forensic medical examiner shows are in prime-time? (The two CSIs and Crossing Jordan for folks not paying attention). And at the box office, Horror rules with creepy child deaths the only thing that could displace our favorite psychotic cannibal from the top rung of the movie chart. Just a reminder to always bet against the conventional widsom. It's almost always wrong. Posted by Nathan at October 21, 2002 11:47 AM Related posts:
