<< Military Orders 77,000 Body Bags | Main | Jon Stewart is God, Part 50 >> February 11, 2003Silliness of Bin Laden-Hussein LinkIt's sad to see Powell blowing his credibility on manufacturing a Bin-Laden link to Saddam. The newest video just has the administration spinning their propaganda wheels, missing the point: Secretary of State Colin Powell said Tuesday that a new statement believed to be from Osama bin Laden talks of the "partnership" the terrorist leader feels with Iraq.Bin Laden stated that an attack on Iraq would just enrage Muslims globally and lead to attacks on the US in solidarity with the people of Iraq (notably not mentioning Hussein's regime). This is what the left has been saying forever. It doesn't help Bush's case. It just illustrates that Bin Laden is alive and Bush has been ignoring him in favor of Iraqi propaganda weapons of mass distraction. And a unilateral attack on Iraq and the inevitably televised deaths of innocent civilians is guaranteed to endanger all our lives. Update: The cynicism of the White House promoting the tape was highlighted by Maureen Dowd: In the past, Condi Rice has implored the networks not to broadcast the tapes outright, fearing he might be activating sleeper cells in code.
