<< What Does Chile, Singapore Trade Votes Mean? | Main | Why Does the GOP Hate Our Troops? >> July 28, 2003Edwards Backs Verizon StrikersUnions are demanding more than promises of good policy from friendly politicians. They are demanding support in their life-and-death organizing, bargaining and strikes. John Edwards is jockeying for labor support and has come out strongly in support of Verizon telephone strikers: Sen. John Edwards (D-N.C.) wrote to Verizon President Lawrence Babbio voicing concern over the Verizon North Carolina strike and calling on the company to "negotiate in good faith an end to this strike to allow these families to get back to work."This demand in the North Carolina strike could be just a warmup for a possible national strike by Verizon workers, where a range of candidates and politicians will be asked to step up to the plate in support. I wonder if is it the same script as the Verizon ad... Posted by: pogo at July 28, 2003 03:23 PM The Wal-Mart ads have been playing here in Seattle too. I wonder how effective it would be to contact the company. I've had nothing but good service from Verizon (I'm a wireless customer), and I'd like to tell the company to do the right thing by its workers who continue to serve me very well.
