<< Job Losses- Largest Since Great Depression | Main | Bush States Are Spending Hogs >> August 04, 2003Unions Vie to Organize HospitalsThis is a good article about a bruising battle between two unions, SEIU and the California Nurses Association, to organize hospital nurses in California. The unions are at each others throats and denouncing each other. Some see the battle as wasteful. But workers are getting organized and it's worth remembering that the greatest union organizing in US history happened from the AFL and CIO were separate federations fighting tooth-and-nail for every worker. It's messy but you have to wonder whether when workers have the choice of multiple unions, it may make the "no union" option look even less attractive.
