If Lockyer wins, this could be a huge loss for the supermarkets trying to slash health care for their workers. Posted by Nathan at January 31, 2004 01:41 PM Related posts:
Trackback PingsTrackBack URL for this entry: CommentsAt least the Attorney General in California is sane and competent! On an entirely unrelated subject, Bush is reportedly going to back an "independent" probe into the intelligence failures. But more pointedly, check out this quote from Republican Senator Pat Roberts: The panel, Roberts said, would have to be bipartisan and include only recognized experts whose recommendations could "leapfrog" over the current debate and quickly tackle the issue of how to fix intelligence deficiencies. "It would be helpful not only politically, but also for the nation," Roberts said. Excuse me? "Leap-f*ing-frog"!? That is, we don't want to investigate how the intelligence was politicized, manipulated, or otherwise misrepresented by the Bush Administration. We just want to skip over that -- and get to the more "pressing" matter of how to fix the Intelligence agencies. Maybe they don't need much fixin. Just like the WMDs didn't need much searchin. (We're now going to waste time and money trying to fix something that wasn't nearly as broke as the Administration was morally bankrupt...just like we've been wasting money on the snipe hunt for WMDs.) In any event, Pat Roberts is right about one thing: It would NOT be politically helpful to look at how the intelligence itself was wrong and manipulated. Not helpful to his party and his president, anyway. Posted by: The Tooth at February 1, 2004 12:24 AM Think simple. Learn different.
