<< Saving the Mouse | Main | Civil Rights Act of 2004 >> February 12, 2004Has She No Shame?Well, no-- like her hero, Ann Coulter has no depth to which she will not sink. Defending Bush, she decides to smear Max Cleland Cleland lost three limbs in an accident during a routine noncombat mission where he was about to drink beer with friends. He saw a grenade on the ground and picked it up...Luckily for Cleland's political career and current pomposity about Bush, he happened to do it while in Vietnam. This is a nasty smear-- the grenade that exploded had been set off by another soldier in a training exercise. And Coulter's nasty innuendo-- let's see the proof Ann-- ignores the fact that Cleland had won the Bronze and Silver Star before the explosion. Here is the language from Cleland's Silver Star award: Action: For gallantry in action while engaged in military operations involving conflict with an armed hostile force in the Republic of Vietnam. Captain Cleland distinguished himself by exceptionally valorous action on 4 April 1968, while serving as communications officer of the 2nd Battalion, 12th Calvary during an enemy attack near Khe Sanh, Republic of Vietnam. So Bush plays hooky from his easy duty in the National Guard, while the rightwing defends him by resmearing a man who lost three limbs to the Vietnam War. Have you no shame, Ms. Coulter? Posted by Nathan at February 12, 2004 09:00 AM Related posts:

I don't think demeaning the purple heart is going to win votes for the Republicans. It also appeals to already fervid. Posted by: molly bloom at February 12, 2004 01:02 PM it's sad that liberals have lost the ability and desire to be offensive. it puts us at an obvious disadvantage. Posted by: zero the hero at February 13, 2004 09:45 AM Blonde Republican women, yicky! Posted by: Aimie at February 13, 2004 06:22 PM It appears you don't know how to read nor tell the truth, as demonstrated by your comments directed towards Ann Coulter in regards to Max Cleland's injuries. Perhaps doing some research (check out his campaign managers comments ... http://www.gainesvilletimes.com/news/stories/20021026/opinion/372490.html) would help you comment factually, while honoring Mr. Cleland, rather than embarassing him by your recent rant. Of course, given that you seem to practice embellishing your stories by adding irrelevant material (e.g. Mr. Cleland's Silver Star award), I doubt that you will change your ways. Mr. Cleland, and Ms. Coulter, deserve an apology from you. But that would mean you were in their league.
