<< Labor Roundup | Main | Boycott Disney >> May 04, 2004One for the AtheistsI sort of got a kick out of this memorial comment by Pat Tillman's brother: Tillman's youngest brother, Rich, wore a rumpled white T-shirt, no jacket, no tie, no collar, and immediately swore into the microphone. He hadn't written anything, he said, and with the starkest honesty, he asked mourners to hold their spiritual bromides.So maybe we should demand in the name of Pat Tilman that "under God" be taken out of the pledge of allegiance as a memorial to his sacrifice? I watched Nightline Friday night for that reason, because I wanted to see the faces and hear the names of those who died, ostensibly for us - but really for Bush and Halliburton. I was reduced to tears and had a hollow feeling for all we have lost and just do not realize. I read the article on Pat Tillman, and it left me feeling the same way. God, what a neat guy! I wish I could have known him. I'm glad I found out he was more than just another jock and what we lost in his death. The question here is, when is enough enough? How many more of our precious lives must be sacrificed to Bush's ego and contempt for us?
