That b------ George Pataki vetoed the bill, choosing to play to his national ambitions in the GOP rather than the needs of hundreds of thousands of New York's workers. The Working Families Party has a response page here, where if you are a New Yorker, you can easily find out how to contact your state Senator to demand that they hold an override vote. And, everyone, inside and outside the state, should email or fax Senate Majority Leader Joe Bruno to demand that he hold the override vote. Pataki says he supports raising the min. wage but he won't raise it until other states raise their min. wage because he does not want NY at a disadvantage to attract new businesses. So we are in a Catch 22. The dog keeps chasing his tail. It will take real action for the working class to make changes. It will take puting on the marching boots and taking it to the streets. In fact, the more states that raise the minimum wage, the more pressure on the feds to raise it.
