<< Senator Phil Gramm has no shame | Main | Giving it Away >> May 18, 2002Rise of Right in EuropeWhile this article Europe 'Is Rubbing Its Eyes' at the Ascent of the Right does not mean the Nazis are returning to the halls of power, it does highlight a radical exhaustion of social democratic parties in office. The Left is generally fractured -- the reason for the meltdown in France -- or unable to fully engage with the frustrations of working folks in an era of globalization. Unfortunately, this comes just as a new Constitution for Europe is being written, which means that it more likely to have the imprint of fear and exclusion than of human rights at its core. What is needed from Europe to the US is a new global populism absorbing the lessons of the global justice movement protesters.Posted by Nathan at May 18, 2002 07:19 AM Related posts:
