Unocol Faces Human Rights Suit

The NY Times has a story that Unocal to Face Suit on Human Rights. This lawsuit (see more info at) is part of a long-term campaign by the International Labor Rights Fund to hold Unocol accountable for its participation in human rights abuses by the Myanmar (Burma) government.
...This suit, brought on behalf of Myanmar slave laborers forced to work on a Unocol-backed oil project, is seeking to hold the company accountable in California state court where it is incorporated. The suit raises the issue of whether states will treat responsibilities for legal behavior built into state charter laws as more than empty paper.
