Says Bush spokesperson Ari Fleischer, when it comes to new gun controls generally, "how many laws can we really have to stop crime, if people are determined in their heart to violate them no matter how many there are or what they say?'' Yeah, and what's the point of weapons inspections or other surveillance of Iraq or terrorists globally when determined folks will attack us if they are determined? This reflects the fundamental misguided nature of the "war on terrorism." Many things we can control that would save lives, from better auto safety and emissions to tracking bullets, are blocked because of Bush's special interest support, yet we are spending billions on military maneuvers that are largely irrelevant to the global issues driving terrorism.
