<< EU Sanity on Software Patents | Main | Telemarketing and Judicial Activism >> September 25, 2003Arnie- Son of Pete Wilson? When Pete Wilson ran for reelection in 1994, he tied his reelection to appealing to racism against latinos with his Prop 187 initiative to deny schooling and aid to the children of the undocumented. The Sac Bee's Dan Weintraub wonders if Arnie's bashing Indian tribes is out of Pete Wilson's playbook: But there is that pattern, and in fact it goes back further than my friend suggests. In 1990 Wilson surprised the political world by endorsing term limits, which were in part code for terminating Willie Brown, then the flamboyant, black speaker of the California Assembly. In 1992, in the mid-term elections, the Wilson operation ran against welfare mothers with a ballot measure that would have slashed their benefits. The most disturbing thing about Arnie is his links to Pete Wilson-- one of the most disgusting politicians who has ever crawled the face of the earth. Trackback PingsTrackBack URL for this entry: CommentsPete Wilson, slimy as he is, is a piker compared to Bush and Cheney. Not only does Arnold have direct contact with Wilson, whose last good deed was the San Diego Trolley, but also with Bush. He's just the face, as is Bush, to allow Wilson, California's Cheney, to actually run things. Posted by: pessimist at September 26, 2003 03:16 AM Pete Wilson was my albatross for so long. I grew up in San Diego, when he was routinely called "Mayor Pete" by the sycophantic local press. Then, around the time I left San Diego, he became Senator Pete, then Governor Pete. When I finally stopped being a Californian, he threatened to become President Pete. I thought I was never going to get rid of him. At least Arnold is mildly entertaining at times. Wilson has no endearing qualities whatsoever. He is Lee Atwater nasty, Dick Cheney unprincipled, oily as hell . . . . Even his wife gets into the act. I remember when Kathleen Brown (daughter of Pat, sister of Jerry) ran against Wilson for governor, and Wilson's wife sang a cute little song about Brown at a Republican fundraiser. I don't remember the whole thing, but the last line was that Kathleen was "Jerry in a dress." Death is too good for these people. Do you sense that I don't like Pete Wilson? Posted by: J.
