French Veto Bad, US Veto Good
Remeber all the anger that the French would dare threaten to veto a resolution on Iraq. How dare a country stand in the way of defending international law.
Well the US stood alone today in vetoing a resolution calling on Israel not to expel Yasser Arafat from the West Bank:
It would have condemned Israel's targeted assassinations of militant leaders and Palestinian suicide bombings, ``all of which caused enormous suffering and many innocent victims.'' It would also have called for a cessation of ``all acts of terrorism, provocation, incitement and destruction.''But the US will not allow any condemnation of Israel, even if couched in joint condemnation of suicide bombers.
So the US lacks all credibility as a fair broker -- and people continue to die by the day.
