U of Minnesota Clericals on Strike
Check out Local 3800 AFSCME for details, or Just Looking's blog entry, since his girlfriend (corrected) is on strike and is right in the action. His family is okay, but he urges folks to support the union Hardship Fund.
This is the result of state budget cuts, which in turn are the result of lousy national policies that are leading to cuts in education across the country.
That $374 billion deficit isn't free money-- we are paying for it in slashed education funding, poorer local services and slashed wages for local workers. All as Bush wastes national money on his military contractor friends and rich tax cut recipients.
