Which is a wonderful opportunity for progressives who want to fix the bill. Now that the money and benefits are locked in, what progressives see wrong with the bill will actually save the government money if fixed. Primarily, we need to start a drumbeat calling for cutting the subsidies to private HMOs and allow the government to negotiate to cut prescription drug costs-- exactly what the Canadian government does which cuts their drug prices for their citizens.
