<< Bush's Quiet War on Immigrants | Main | Another Bush Promise a Lie >> August 16, 2004Jeb's Vote Suppression ReduxBob Herbert has a column that tells us that we can expect the same crap from Florida as we had in 2000, probably just multiplied: State police officers have gone into the homes of elderly black voters in Orlando and interrogated them as part of an odd "investigation" that has frightened many voters, intimidated elderly volunteers and thrown a chill over efforts to get out the black vote in November.Herbert did his own followup call and got this conversation with Jeb's spokesperson: asked if all the people interrogated were black.Convenient, that. This is Jeb Bush directly out intimidating voters in Florida. It's ugly as hell and we all have to scream bloody murder about it. Posted by Nathan at August 16, 2004 07:31 AM Related posts:
Trackback PingsTrackBack URL for this entry: CommentsWow. Just randomly drew a crowd of elderly blacks from a pool of...? In Orlando? "...they are investigating allegations of voter fraud that came up during the Orlando mayoral election in March." Think any Disney execs were visited in the course of this investigation? One might think these are the types of people who would find absentee voting a way to minimize the disruption to their work day. How many wealthy whites who voted absentee were questioned? Or is voting fraud only found among the blacks and elderly? Nice find. Posted by: rick pietz at August 17, 2004 09:37 AM where are your darling ABB crowd and dems . here is a real problem they should be raising hell about . i guess too busy going after ralph ? why bother when all black vote is counted as in pocket ? after all this lot did not give a crap in 2000 too . Posted by: badri at August 18, 2004 10:45 AM This is an odd criticism to make of Nathan, since he is writing about this, and he hasn't written about Nader for months. Posted by: jw mason at August 18, 2004 03:33 PM "That's just the people we selected out of a random sample to interview." In other words, starting from a random sample of voters, they selected the elderly black members of that sample to interview . . .
