Haley Barbour in Trouble w/Fundamentalists

Post-Katrina, it looked like Governor Haley Barbour had done well politically from his response to the tragedy in Mississippi, at least compared to his fellow governor in Louisiana and Bush's failures.

Except he managed to piss off the religious right and they're .howling betrayal.

No, it's not abortion or gay rights. It's gambling. Previously, Mississiippi only allowed gambling on boats, but since those are most vulnerable to Hurricaines and other disasters, he's now supporting land-based casinos-- which has some on the religious right looking to dump him at the next election.

But as Bush has shown, when push comes to shove, or money comes to theology, money wins every time on the GOP agenda.
