Attack on Medicaid

God forbid the Bush administration allow more government spending for poor people. The Bush prescription drug plan for Medicare is going to increase spending on care for the elderly by hundreds of billions of dollars, but since the very poor were already receiving prescription drugs under state Medicaid plans, the Bush administration wants to cut Medicaid by more than what states were already spending for prescription drugs for the poor.

Given that the middle class non-elderly are getting a new large subsidy, cutting aid for the rest of the poor's health care just reflects one more time the extreme class bias of this administration. And this matches a new GOP Congressional effort to cut federal spending, including more cuts in Medicaid.
