  • Even before her recent Wall Street troubles, Martha Stewart was facing a largescale protest by Greenpeace and other environmentalists over her use of the toxic plastic, PVC (vinyl) in products and packaging of her Everyday line sold at Kmart.
  • Some conservatives have sought to blame environmentalists for forest fires in the West. The Sierra Club highlights the pressure legislators have put on the Forest Service to reverse previous findings that refute the charge.
  • WWF released new study highlighting the threat of extinction of the Siberian Tiger and Amur Leopard due to rampant illegal logging in Russia for trade with Japan.
  • Environmentalists scored a victory this week in a House vote to prohibit drilling in 36 California undeveloped oil and gas leases.
