A Meaner, Leaner AFL-CIO?
For those of us itnerested in the vigor and leadership of the AFL-CIO, this story outlines some big changes in the structure of the top labor body quietly voted through a the most recent AFL-CIO exec meeting. Apparently, Sweeney was ambushed by leaders of a few large unions who want to slash unneeded bureaucracy and focus leadership on the politics and organizing needed to revive union power.
