<< SEIU Endorses Gay Marriage | Main | Total Work Hours Drop >> July 02, 2004Bush Fights Cheap AIDS DrugsWhile Bush has agreed to increase funding for AIDS drugs in the developing world, he has conditioned the money on it being paid only to his buddies in the pharaceutical industry. No generic drugs should be used, so the money will end up enriching those firms and help far fewer people. One of the justifications for this policy has been the Bush contention that the generic versions produced in countries like India are not as effective. This study has refuted this argument, showing that generics are just as effective as Big Pharma's versions. It's one more example of Bush manipulating science and the truth to hurt the sick and the poor, while enriching his corporate contributors. Posted by Nathan at July 2, 2004 07:08 AM Related posts:
