Religion and Aid

A bunch of folks are rightly outraged that FEMA is directing donations prominently to Pat Robertson's Operating Blessing charity. But if you look at the FEMA list of suggested charities, what is striking is heavy dominance of sectarian religious charities. While diverse in the religions listed and Second Harvest is listed prominently, the abscence of most other secular charities, most notably the United Way, is surprising or maybe not so much.
