Why Conservatives Fear Vouchers

This piece highlights why some conservatives fear education vouchers will lead to government control. The argument that vouchers will lead to economic and political control of private education is hardly a new theme. The desire for separation of church and state was not originally just about keeping the church out of the state's business; it was also about the reverse. Vouchers open the way for religion to get a signficant portion of their income from the government, which could change their relationship to government quite dramatically.

While I thought the Supreme Court decision on vouchers was correct legally, there are a host of reasons why actually implementing vouchers is a bad idea, the downsides that will only now get discussed
